MicroDVD to SRT
Convert MicroDVD .sub files to SRT
MicroDVD counts frames, not time. Captionry reads the frame rate from the file's header line, or uses the one you pick, and writes standard SRT timestamps.

What changes in the conversion
- A header line such as {1}{1}23.976 sets the frame rate. Without one, the rate under Options is used (23.976 to 60 fps) and the file shows a note.
- The | character becomes a line break; {y:i} and {Y:i} become italics. Other {c:...} and {f:...} codes are removed.
- A cue with an empty end frame ends when the next one starts, or after 3 seconds.
- Only text MicroDVD files convert. Image-based VobSub .sub files (with an .idx next to them) are reported as not convertible.
FAQ
Questions
The timing drifts further as the file goes on. Why?
The frame rate is wrong. Open Options, choose the frame rate of the video the file was made for (often 23.976 or 25) and convert again.
How do I know if my .sub is MicroDVD or VobSub?
MicroDVD is a text file whose lines start with {frame}{frame}. VobSub .sub is a binary image file that comes with an .idx file; Captionry lists it as not convertible instead of guessing.
